FAQs

  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment designed to improve the appearance of the skin. It emits a range of light wavelengths that penetrate the skin to target various skin issues. It’s effective for treating sun damage, age spots, rosacea, broken capillaries, and other blemishes, resulting in a more even skin tone and texture.

  • IPL delivers broad-spectrum light through the skin’s surface, reaching the deeper parts of the skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis). The light energy is absorbed by the target areas, such as pigmented lesions, or dilated blood vessels, and is converted to heat. This heat destroys the unwanted pigment or vessels, promoting skin rejuvenation. The process also stimulates collagen production, enhancing skin elasticity and reducing fine lines.

  • During the session, you’ll be provided with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the bright flashes of light. A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area to enhance comfort and protect the skin. The IPL device is then moved across the skin, emitting pulses of light. Each session typically lasts about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the treatment area’s size.

  • One of the advantages of an IPL Photofacial treatment is minimal downtime. Patients can usually return to their daily activities immediately after the session. However, there might be slight redness or swelling, which typically subsides within a few hours to a day. It’s crucial to follow post-treatment care instructions, including avoiding direct sun exposure and using sunscreen.

  • The number of treatments required varies depending on the individual’s skin condition and goals. Most patients achieve optimal results with a series of 3 to 5 treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart. Your skincare professional can provide a personalized treatment plan after evaluating your skin.
